Without Your Health, You'd Be Dead

Ok, so on the surface this title is perhaps pretty obvious, yet with the world at large, and especially in the United States, hundreds of thousands, no millions, of people do not take care of their health.  Obesity is on the rise, as are cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke... all conditions and diseases which can be affected by a person's health habits. Yet still people mistreat their bodies.

This body mistreatment and neglect is not due to ignorance or a need for better health education.  I have never come across anyone who has said, "Do you mean to tell me these French Fries are not good for me?" or "This can of Coke (or Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or 7Up) will provide me with the same nutrients as orange juice, won't it?"  Rather, the statements more likely to be overheard include, "This is so bad; I need to hit the gym in the morning to work this off" or "I can feel my arteries hardening as we speak" or "This cake is going straight to my hips." Don't scowl. We've all heard it, and, more importantly, we've all said it.

We need a wake up call; let's not allow ourselves to become so unhealthy that it will take a heart attack and a fortnight stay in a hospital to get us to take our life and our health seriously.
