How to Start a Weight Loss Program

Where to begin when embarking on a physical fitness and/or weight loss program? Do you reduce-fat-reduce-carbs-walk-ten-miles-drink-a-gallon-of-water-eat-celery-drink-protein-drinks-eliminate-alcohol-eliminate caffeine-eliminate-sugar-eliminate-artificial-sweeteners-get-eight-hours-of-sleep?

So how do you start a weight loss program? I believe the very first step is resolve.  I WILL do this.  I HAVE to do this.  I have a lot riding on this... my general health, my family, my marriage, my future, my emotional well-being.

Are my kids going to grow up watching me eat junk; avoiding my meltdowns as my blood sugar spikes and bottoms out; see me get breathless walking across the park; hear me say "I can't" as a result of one of the many consequences of having unhealthy habits?  Or are they going to see me turn off the television or computer, put on a pair of running shoes, and move my butt?

So let's get a move on.
